On Sunday afternoon at the Santander Arena, the Reading Royals (13-6-1) concluded their five-game homestand with a 3-2 win over the Allen Americans (6-13-1). The Royals are 8-2 in their last ten games.
After a scoreless first period, the Royals struck first nine minutes and fifteen seconds into the second period on a goal by Dominic Cormier (3) to put Reading up 1-0 with an assist from Brendan Hoffmann. Twenty-eight seconds later, the Royals extended their lead to 2-0 by Charlie Gerard (5) with an assist from Evan Barratt.
Twenty-nine seconds later, the Americans cut the Royals’ lead to 2-1 by Aidan Brown (8) with assists from Kris Myllari and Chad Butcher. The Royals led 2-1 after two periods.
Two minutes and thirty-seven seconds into the third period, the Royals made it 3-1 on a goal by Jordan Timmons (1) with assists from Adrien Beraldo and Trey Bradley. Five minutes and sixteen seconds later, the Americans made it a one-goal game 3-2 by Lord-Anthony Grissom (1) with an assist by Jackson Leppard. The Royals held on to a 3-2 win.
Reading finished the afternoon with 38 shots, 0/5 on the power play, and Pat Nagle made 24 saves. On the other side, the Americans had 26 shots, 0/3 on the power play, and goalies Kevin Mandolese made 22 saves and Logan Flodell made 13 saves.
