On Saturday afternoon at the Colisée Vidéotron, the Reading Royals (15-6-1) completed a two-game sweep over the Trois-Rivieres Lions (11-11-1) with a 4-2 win. It’s the Royals’ third straight win and 8-2 in their last ten games.
Five minutes and twelve seconds into the first period, the Royals took a 1-0 lead with a goal scored by Mason Millman (4) with assists from Alec Butcher and Trey Bradley. The Royals led 1-0 after one period.
After a scoreless second period. Trois-Rivieres tied the game 1-1 six minutes and six seconds into the third period on a power play goal by Cedric Montminy (5) with assists from Nicolas Guay and Anthony Beauregard.
Five minutes and three seconds later, the Royals took a 2-1 with a power-play goal by Evan Barratt (1) with assists from Trey Bradley and Garrett McFadden. Four minutes and 29 seconds later, the Royals extended their lead to 3-1 on a power-play goal by Dominic Cormier (4) with assists from Shane Sellar and Jacob Gaucher.
A minute and fourteen seconds later, the Lions made it a one-goal game by Anthony Beauregard (11) scoring a power-play to make it 3-2 with assists from Philippe Bureau-Blais and Brett Stapley. Thirty-two seconds later, the Royals put the game away 4-2 with Garrett McFadden (1) scoring an empty-net goal with an assist from Jacob Gaucher.
The Royals finished the night with 29 shots, 2/6 on the power play, and Pat Nagle made 24 saves. On the other side, the Lions had 26 shots, 2/4 on the power play, and Philippe Desrosiers made 25 saves.
