The Saskatchewan Roughriders and defensive back Nick Marshall agreed to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday. The 30-year-old from Rochelle, Georgia, had 24 tackles, four interceptions, and one touchdown in 16 games last season. This will be his fifth season in Saskatchewan.

In 2021, Marshall played 14 games with 30 tackles, three interceptions, and one touchdown. He was named a CFL West All-Star. Marshall has played 60 games in four seasons for the Roughriders with 119 tackles, 15 interceptions, five touchdowns, and one forced fumble.

Collegiately, Marshall played one season at Georgia in 2011 as a defensive back with five tackles in 13 games. Then, he transferred to Garden City Community College in 2012 as a quarterback. He completed 196 of 343 passes (57.1%) for 3,142 yards, 18 touchdowns, 171 carries for 1,095 yards, and 19 touchdowns in 11 games.

Finally, Marshall transferred to Auburn (2013-14) with 320 of 532 for 4,508 yards, 34 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 325 carries for 1,866 yards, 23 touchdowns, and three catches for 51 yards in 26 games. In 2014, he helped the Tigers win the National Championship over the Oregon Ducks.

Afterward, Marshall went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marshall played 21 games in two seasons in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets with 18 tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble.
