On Wednesday night at the Santander Arena. The Reading Royals (16-8-1) lost their second straight game to the Wheeling Nailers (13-13-1).
After a scoreless first period. The Nailers took a 1-0 lead thirteen minutes and forty-five seconds into the second period on a goal by Cédric Desruisseaux (10). Justin Addamo and Davis Bunz assisted his goal.
Then, with two minutes left in the second period. The Nailers extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal by Samuel Tremblay (1) with assists from Gianluca Esteves and Justin Addamo. The Nailers led 2-0 after two periods.
Sixteen minutes and ten seconds into the third period. Jacob Gaucher (9) cut the Nailers’ lead to 2-1 with assists from Alec Butcher and Jordan Timmons. The Royals pulled Kaden Fulcher late in the third period but could not tie the game. The Royals lost to the Nailers by the final score of 2-1.
The Royals finished the night with 31 shots, 0/3 on the power play, and Kaden Fulcher made 29 saves. On the other side, the Nailers had 31 shots, 0/6 on the power play, and Taylor Gauthier made 30 saves.
The Royals hit the road to start a four-game road trip. They will play two games at the Wesbanco Arena against the Wheeling Nailers on Friday at 7:10 pm. Tickets for the game can be purchased on StubHub.
