Iowa tight end Luke Lachey scores a touchdown in the Music City Bowl

On Saturday afternoon at Nissan Stadium. The Iowa Hawkeyes (Big Ten) shut out the Kentucky Wildcats (SEC) by the final score of 21-0 in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.

Iowa quarterback Joe Labas completed 14 of 24 passes for 139 yards, one touchdown, and four carries for 11 yards. Running back Jaziun Patterson had four carries for 23 yards, and one catch for one yard. Tight ends Sam LaPorta (5 catches for 56 yards), and Luke Lachey (3 catches for 36 yards, 1 touchdown) combined with eight catches for 92 yards and one touchdown.

Iowa’s defense allowed 185 yards, with 64 tackles, four sacks, six pass breakups, two interceptions, and two touchdowns. The Hawkeyes finish the season at 8-5.

Kentucky quarterback Destin Wade completed 16 of 30 passes for 98 yards, two interceptions, and 16 carries for 40 yards. Running back JuTahn McClain had ten carries for 40 yards. Wide receiver Dane Key led the receivers with six catches for 47 yards.

Kentucky’s defense allowed 206 yards, with 43 tackles, one sack, and four pass breakups. The Wildcats finish the season at 7-6.
