On Friday afternoon at TIAA Bank Field. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Independent) defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks (SEC) by the final score of 45-38 in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner completed 18 of 33 passes for 274 yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions, 12 carries for 61 yards, and two touchdowns. Running backs Audric Estime (14 carries, 95 yards, 1 catch for 8 yards) and Logan Diggs (13 carries, 89 yards, 1 touchdown, 2 catches for 81 yards, and 1 touchdown) combined with 27 carries for 184 yards, one touchdown, three catches for 89 yards, and one touchdown.

Wide receiver Braden Lenzy (4 catches for 89 yards, 1 touchdown) and tight end Mitchell Evans (3 catches for 39 yards, 1 touchdown) combined with seven catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Notre Dame’s defense allowed 352 yards, with 67 tackles, three sacks, three pass breakups, and one interception. The Fighting Irish finish the season at 9-4.

South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler completed 29 of 46 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and seven carries for 27 yards. Running back Juju McDowell had six carries for 28 yards, and wide receiver Xavier Legette had seven catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

South Carolina’s defense allowed 558 yards, with 77 tackles, two sacks, four pass breakups, two interceptions, and one touchdown. The Gamecocks finish the season at 8-5.
