Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton scores a touchdown in the Rose Bowl

On Monday night at the Rose Bowl. The Penn State Nittany Lions (Big Ten) defeated the Utah Utes (PAC 12) by the final score of 35-31 in the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential. It is the Nittany Lions’ second Rose Bowl win and first since 1995.

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford completed 16 of 22 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Nicholas Singleton (7 carries for 120 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Kaytron Allen (11 carries for 37 yards, 1 touchdown, 3 catches for 16 yards) combined with 18 carries for 157 yards, three touchdowns, and three catches for 16 yards.

Wide receivers KeAndre Lambert-Smith (3 catches for 124 yards, 1 touchdown) and Mitchell Tinsley (6 catches for 49 yards, 1 touchdown) combined with nine catches for 173 yards, and two touchdowns.

Penn State’s defense allowed 391 yards, with 69 tackles, six sacks, three pass breakups, and two interceptions. The Nittany Lions finish the season at 11-2.

Utah quarterback Bryson Barnes completed 10 of 19 passes for 112 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Backup quarterback Cameron Rising completed 8 of 21 passes for 95 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and nine carries for 56 yards.

Running back Ja’Quinden Jackson had 13 carries for 81 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for eight yards. Wide receivers Devaughn Vele (5 catches for 100 yards), Jaylen Dixon (6 carries for 64 yards, 1 touchdown), and tight end Thomas Yassmin (1 catch for 1 yard, 1 touchdown) combined with 12 catches for 165 yards, and two touchdowns.

Utah’s defense allowed 448 yards, with 51 tackles and three sacks. The Utes finish the season at 10-4.
