The BC Lions announced on Wednesday they released All-Star defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy. The 30-year-old from Cantonment, Florida, had 64 tackles, one sack, and three interceptions in 18 games on his way to being named a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star.

According to 3DownNation’s John Hodge. Purifoy was due a $30,000 off-season roster bonus that was due on February 15th. This was Purifoy’s second stint with the Lions. The Lions signed Purifoy in 2016 after he had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks.

Purifoy played three seasons with the Lions (2016-17, 2022) with 164 tackles, six sacks, seven interceptions, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles in 54 games.

In 2018, Purifoy left the Lions to sign with the Ottawa Redblacks. He played one season with 29 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble in seven games. Shortly after the Redblacks released Purifoy, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Purifoy played two and a half seasons in Saskatchewan with 119 tackles, two sacks, eight interceptions, and one forced fumble in 40 games.

Collegiately, Purifoy played three seasons at the University of Florida (2011-13) with 102 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three blocked kicks.
