The Calgary Stampeders and defensive back Nick Statz agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season. The 26-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, made 18 tackles and 1 interception in 11 games last season in Calgary. This will be his third season in Calgary.
The Stampeders drafted Statz in the sixth round (55th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. He attended the Stampeders’ training camp but decided to return to the Dinos for his final season. In 23 games, Statz has 21 tackles and 1 interception.
Statz played five seasons at the University of Calgary (2015-19) with 94 tackles, six interceptions, 22 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

The Stampeders drafted Sindani in the eighth round (70th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. In four seasons with Calgary, Sindani played 60 games with 92 catches for 986 yards, and three touchdowns. He helped Calgary win the 2018 Grey Cup championship.
Before the Stampeders, Sindani played 20 games in three seasons (2013-2015) at the University of Regina with 33 catches for 467 yards and three touchdowns. In 2016, Sindani played eight games for the Calgary Colts (CJFL) with 31 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns. In 2017, he transferred to the University of Calgary, playing six games with 23 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown.
