Philadelphia Stars re-sign CB Channing Stribling and LB Te’von Coney

The Philadelphia Stars announced on Thursday that cornerback Channing Stribling and linebacker Te’von Coney have re-signed with the team for the 2023 season. In addition, the Stars signed tight end Ryan Izzo.

Channing Stribling, a 28-year-old from Matthews, North Carolina, returns to the Stars after being drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks (XFL). In addition, Stribling attended the Washington Commanders training camp last year. He led the USFL with seven interceptions, 16 tackles, and one sack. The Stars drafted him in the eighth round (58th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

Before the USFL, the Matthews, North Carolina, native played four games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with six tackles. In 2020, he played five games for the Seattle Dragons (XFL) with 14 tackles, one interception, and three pass blocks.

At Michigan, Stribling played 47 games in four seasons (2013-16) with 68 tackles, one sack, six interceptions, 22 pass blocks, and one forced fumble.

Te’von Coney, a 25-year-old from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, had 34 tackles and one interception in eight games. His lone interception came in a Week 9 game against the Pittsburgh Maulers in a 17-16 win. The Stars drafted Coney in the 30th round (234th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

He spent three seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders on the practice squad. Collegiately, played 50 games in four seasons (2015-18) at Notre Dame with 314 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Ryan Izzo, a 27-year-old from Highland Lakes, New Jersey, attended training camp for the Carolina Panthers last year. The New England Patriots drafted Izzo in the seventh round (250th pick) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Izzo played two seasons with the Patriots (2019-20) making 19 catches for 313 yards and one touchdown. In 2021, the Patriots traded Izzo to the Houston Texans. In addition, Izzo was on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks. He played one more regular season game with the Tennessee Titans in a Week 18 game against the Houston Texans.

Collegiately, Izzo played four seasons at Florida State (2014-17) with 54 catches for 761 yards, and six touchdowns in 41 games. He was a Freshman All-America Honorable Mention in 2015.
