On Friday night at the DCU Center. The Reading Royals (19-9-1) took on the Worcester Railers (19-12-2) in a North Division battle.
Eight minutes and six seconds into the first period. Charlie Gerard (11) scored to put the Royals up 1-0 with an assist by Trey Bradley. The Royals led 1-0 after one period.
Eight minutes and fifty seconds into the second period. The Railers tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Jared Brandt (4). Reece Newkirk and Brent Beaudoin assisted his goal. Forty-eight seconds later. Worcester took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Billy Jerry (1). Myles McGurty and Quin Ryan assisted his goal.
Three minutes and eighteen seconds later. Reading tied the game 2-2 on a power play goal by Max Newton (16). Garrett McFadden and Trey Bradley assisted his goal. The game remained tied 2-2 after two periods.
Fifteen minutes and seventeen seconds into the third period. The Railers took a 3-2 lead on a power play goal by Zack Bross (1). Reece Newkirk and Artur Terchiyev assisted his goal. A short time later. The Railers added another power play goal by Nolan Vesey (10) to make it 4-2. Anthony Repaci and Christian Evers assisted his goal.
Less than a minute later. The Royals cut the Railers’ lead to 4-3 on a goal by Max Newton (17). Trey Bradley assisted his goal. With nine seconds left, the Royals tied the game 4-4 on a goal by Jordan Timmons (3). Mason Millman and Garrett McFadden assisted his goal. The game remained tied 4-4 heading into overtime.
Three minutes and twelve seconds into overtime. Max Newton (18) scored the game-winning goal to give the Royals a 5-4 win. The Royals are now on a two-game winning streak and 7-3 in their last ten games.
The Royals finished the night with 37 shots, 1/4 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 20 saves. On the other side, the Railers had 24 shots, 2/7 on the power play, and Henrik Tikkanen made 32 saves.
