Shane Sellar scores a goal for the Royals in a 5-2 loss to Wheeling

The Reading Royals (20-10-1) were at the WesBanco Arena on Wednesday night. They took on the Wheeling Nailers (17-15-1) for the sixth time this year. The Nailers lead the season series 3-2. The Royals came into this game on a three-game winning streak.

Before the game started, the Royals got Adam Karashik and Zayde Wisdom from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. However, Karashik played in the Royals’ last game this past Saturday.

Six minutes into the first period. The Royals took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Shane Sellar (10). Charlie Gerard and Zayde Wisdom assisted with his goal. The Royals led 1-0 after one period.

Eleven minutes and sixteen seconds into the second period. The Nailers tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Bobby Hampton (3). Cédric Desruisseaux and Tyler Drevitch assisted with his goal. Six minutes and thirty-five seconds later. The Nailers took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal by Justin Addamo (15). Félix Paré and Josh Maniscalco assisted with his goal. The Nailers led 2-1 after two periods.

Five minutes and fifty-five seconds into the third period. The Nailers extended their lead to 3-1 on a goal by Davis Bunz (2). Louie Roehl and Bobby Hampton assisted with his goal. Seven minutes and fifty-four seconds later. The Royals cut the Nailers lead to 3-2 on a goal by Charlie Gerard (12). Zayde Wisdom assisted with his goal.

Nine seconds later. The Nailers got the goal back by Justin Addamo (16) to make it 4-2 with assists from Davis Bunz and Carter Johnson. Six minutes and forty-four seconds later. The Nailers put the game away on a goal by Carter Johnson (5) for a 5-2 lead. Josh Maniscalco and Samuel Tremblay assisted with his goal. The Royals’ three-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-2 loss.

The Royals finished the night with 34 shots, 1/1 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 23 saves. On the other side, the Nailers had 28 shots, 1/3 on the power play, and Bailey Brkin made 32 saves.
