The Calgary Stampeders signed former Western Michigan running back LeVante Bellamy on Friday. The 26-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, spent the last two seasons on the Denver Broncos practice squad.
Bellamy played two regular season games in 2020 with three catches for 11 yards, and one catch for five yards. In addition, he played one preseason game in 2021 with four carries for two yards.
Collegiately, Bellamy played five seasons at Western Michigan (2015-19) with 617 carries for 3,720 yards, 35 touchdowns, 57 catches for 370 yards, one touchdown, and 19 kick returns for 358 yards in 48 games for the Broncos.
In his junior season, Bellamy had 205 carries for 1,228 yards, six touchdowns, 30 catches for 130 yards, one touchdown, and 14 kick returns for 255 yards in 13 games.
In his senior season, Bellamy had 266 carries for 1,472 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 catches for 55 yards in 13 games. He is a two-time First-Team All-MAC (2018-19) and MAC Offensive Player of the Year (2019).
