The Philadelphia Stars signed former Stanford linebacker Joey Alfieri and released defensive tackle Tony Fair on Saturday.
Joey Alfieri, a 26-year-old from Portland, Oregon, played for the Blues (TSL) in 2021. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
After the Eagles released him, Alfieri signed with the New York Giants one day later. Alfieri played one preseason game for the Giants with two tackles. In addition to the Giants, Alfieri spent time with the San Francisco 49ers.
Collegiately, Alfieri played four seasons at Stanford (2015-18) with 165 tackles, 14 sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 50 games for the Cardinal.
In his senior season, Alfieri had 37 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in ten games. He is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention (2017, 2018)
Tony Fair, a 26-year-old from South Bend, Indiana, played four games for the Stars in 2022 with 15 tackles.
Collegiately, Fair started his collegiate career at Indiana State in 2015 but did not see any action. In 2017, Fair played at Pima Community College with 46 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Then, Fair played two seasons at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (2019-20) with 57 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Finally, Fair transferred to Auburn in 2021 with nine tackles and one sack in 12 games.
