The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Monday. The 32-year-old from Dallas, Texas, had 20 tackles, four sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble in 12 games for Winnipeg in 2022.
In 2021, Jeffcoat had 26 tackles, nine sacks, and four forced fumbles on his way to winning his second Grey Cup championship with the Blue Bombers. After the season, he was named a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star. He is the son of two-time Super Bowl champion Jim Jeffcoat of the Dallas Cowboys.
Jeffcoat will enter his sixth season with the Blue Bombers. In 64 career games, Jeffcoat has 129 tackles, 30 sacks, two interceptions, and ten forced fumbles.
Before joining the Blue Bombers, Jeffcoat had stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, and Cleveland Browns. While with the Redskins in 2014 and 2015, he played nine games with seven tackles, one sack, and one interception.
Collegiately, Jeffcoat played four seasons at Texas (2010-13) with 203 tackles, 27.5 sacks, one interception, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 40 games for the Longhorns. In 2013, he was named First-Team All-Big XII and Big XII Defensive Player of the Year.
