The Edmonton Elks re-signed wide receiver Danny Vandervoort and defensive back Jamie Harry to one-year contract extensions through the 2023 season on Tuesday.
Danny Vandervoort, a 28-year-old from Barrie, Ontario, had eight catches for 75 yards, and one touchdown in 18 games for the Elks in 2022. This will be Vandervoort’s third season in Edmonton. He has 16 catches for 129 yards, and three touchdowns in 31 games.
Vandervoort was drafted in the first round (3rd pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft by the BC Lions. He had one catch for 25 yards in 26 games for the Lions. In four seasons, Vandervoort has 12 catches for 154 yards, and three touchdowns in 57 games.
Collegiately, Vandervoort played four seasons at McMaster University (2013-16) with 148 catches for 2,572 yards, and 29 touchdowns in 32 games for the Marauders. His 29 receiving TDs are the third most in U SPORTS history and was named CIS rookie of the year in 2013
Jamie Harry, a 28-year-old from Lachine, Quebec City, played two games for the BC Lions with one tackle before he was released. Then, Harry signed with the Elks and made 18 tackles in nine games in the 2022 season. Harry signed with the Lions as a free agent in 2019. He played two and half seasons for the Lions with nine tackles in 13 games.
Collegiately, Harry played four seasons at the University of Ottawa (2015-18) with 70 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 12 pass breakups, and 11 interceptions in 16 games for Gee-Gees. In 2017, he was named U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian and OUA First Team All-Star.
