Alec Butcher scores a goal for the Royals in a 5-3 win over Norfolk

The Reading Royals (23-11-1) concluded their four-game homestand at the Santander Arena on Friday night. They took on the Norfolk Admirals (6-28-3) for the fifth time this year.

Fourteen minutes and twenty-nine seconds into the first period. Alec Butcher (8) put the Royals up 1-0. Evan Barratt and Mason Millman assisted with his goal. The Royals had nine shots and led 1-0 after one period.

Two minutes and thirty-six seconds into the second period. Mason Millman (5) extended the Royals’ lead to 2-0. Tyler Kirkup and Devon Paliani assisted with his goal. Four minutes and four seconds later. Trey Bradley (12) added another goal this time on the power play for the Royals. It was now 3-0 Reading. Charlie Gerard and Max Newton assisted with his goal.

Two minutes and twelve seconds later. Blake Murray (4) scored for Norfolk and made it a 3-1 Royals lead. Ryan Foss and Denis Smirnov assisted with his goal. Nineteen seconds later. The Royals got the goal back by Charlie Gerard (15) for a 4-1 lead. Dominic Cormier and Nolan Maier assisted with his goal.

Late in the second period. Ryan Foss (8) scored for Norfolk to make it a 4-2 Royals lead. Denis Smirnov and Josh McDougall assisted with his goal. The Royals led 4-2 after two periods and had 12 shots on goal.

Two minutes and four seconds into the third period. The Admirals made it a one-goal game 4-3 by Blake Murray (5). Billy Constantinou and Mathieu Roy assisted with his goal. Then with fifty-six seconds left of the game. Max Newton (18) put the game away with an empty net goal. It was now 5-3 Royals. Trey Bradley and Charlie Gerard assisted with his goal.

The Royals defeated the Norfolk Admirals by the final score of 5-3. They are now 7-3 in their last ten games. Reading finished the night with 33 shots, 1/2 on the power play, and Nolan Maier made 32 saves. On the other side, the Admirals had 35 shots, 1/1 on the power play, and Tomas Vomacka made 28 saves.
