The Montreal Alouettes re-signed wide receiver Regis Cibasu for the 2023 season on Monday. The 28-year-old from Kinshasa, Zaire, had two catches for eight yards in 17 games for the Alouettes in 2022. This will be his third season in Montreal.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Cibasu in the third round (20th pick) in the 2018 CFL Draft. However, he returned to the University of Montreal for his final season. Cibasu played 16 games for Toronto in 2019. After he was released by the Argonauts. Cibasu signed with the Montreal Alouettes in 2021 and played 13 games.
Collegiately, Cibasu played five seasons at the University of Montreal (2014-18) with 183 catches for 2,231 yards, and nine touchdowns in 38 games. He finished as the program’s all-time leading receiver.
Cibasu helped the Carabins win their first Vanier Cup in 2014. In addition, he is a three-time RSEQ First Team All-Star and the RSEQ Rookie of the Year in 2014.
