The Philadelphia Stars and linebacker Jordan Moore agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Tuesday. In addition, the Stars released offensive lineman Clay Legault and linebacker Avery Roberts.
Jordan Moore, a 29-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, made 60 tackles, two sacks, and one interception in 11 games for the Stars in 2022. The Stars drafted Moore in the 29th round (231st pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.
Jordan Moore competed in track and field at LSU before transferring to UTSA as a graduate transfer. In 2016, he played 13 games with 49 tackles, one interception, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
In 2021, he tried to qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo but did not qualify. In 2019, Moore played five games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats with five tackles and four special teams tackles. He was with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021.
Clay Legault, a 24-year-old from Manchester, New Hampshire, was a backup offensive lineman for the Stars. Collegiately, Legault played 32 games in four seasons at Merrimack College (2017-20). Legault was the team captain in his senior year and played right tackle.
In his freshman year, Legault helped Merrimack’s offense rank second in the NE10 in total yards per game (412.9) and rushing yards per game (144.6).
Avery Roberts, a 24-year-old from Wilmington, Delaware, made nine tackles in two games for the Stars in 2022. Collegiately, Roberts played three seasons for the Beavers (2019-21) with 280 tackles, four sacks, one interception, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 29 games. Before transferring to Oregon State, Roberts played one season at Nebraska (2017) with four tackles in 12 games.
He led the PAC-12 with 128 tackles, the fifth most in Oregon State history, with 1.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games during the 2021 season.
Roberts was named All-Pac-12 First Team, Phil Steele All-Pac-12 First Team, and Phil Steele Third-Team All-American. Before signing with the Stars, Roberts attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie mini-camp.
