The BC Lions and defensive back T.J. Lee agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Wednesday. The 31-year-old from Seattle, Washington, had 57 tackles, three interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 15 games for the Lions in 2022.
This will be Lee’s ninth season in British Columbia. The Lions signed Lee as an undrafted free agent in 2014. In his rookie season, Lee had 24 tackles, one interception, and two forced fumbles in eight games.
In eight seasons with the Lions. Lee has 467 tackles, four sacks, 23 interceptions, two touchdowns, and eight forced fumbles in 109 games for the Lions. He is a three-time CFL West All-Star (2018-19, 2021) and a 2018 CFL All-Star.
Collegiately, Lee played four seasons at Eastern Washington (2010-13) with 149 tackles, 14 pass breakups, two and a half sacks, four interceptions, and seven forced fumbles in 49 games for the Eagles. His seven forced fumbles set a new school record.
In addition, he helped the Eagles win the FCS Championship in 2010. Lee was teammates with current Ticats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell. Lee is a three-time First-Team All-Big Sky Conference (2011-2013) and was the team finalist for CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2019.
