Edmonton Elks and linebacker Nyles Morgan agree to a two-year contract extension

The Edmonton Elks and linebacker Nyles Morgan agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday. The 26-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, had 42 tackles and one forced fumble in six for the Elks in 2022.

This will be Morgan’s second season in Edmonton. In 2021, he made 72 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in 13 games.

Before signing with Edmonton. Morgan played for the Jousters (TSL) in 2021, and the Seattle Dragons (XFL) in 2020 with 16 tackles and a half-sack in five games. The Chicago Bears signed Morgan as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later spent time with the Tennessee Titans.  

Collegiately, Morgan played four seasons at Notre Dame (2014-17) with 250 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 50 games for the Fighting Irish. In his final season, Morgan had 92 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 13 games. He was named Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team in 2014.
