The BC Lions and offensive lineman David Knevel agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Monday. The 28-year-old from Brantford, Ontario, did not play last season after having labrum repair surgery on his shoulder. He was scheduled to be a free agent next month. This will be his fourth season in British Columbia.
“It was very hard to not be out there with my teammates but it says a lot that the organization has faith in me to get back on the field,” said Knevel. “Watching the way my teammates competed has given me so much motivation, I can’t wait to join them next season.”
In 2021, Knevel played 14 games at right guard and tackle. The Lions drafted Knevel in the third round (21st pick) in the 2018 CFL Draft. He’s played 33 games in three seasons with the Lions.
Collegiately, Knevel played 31 games in four seasons at Nebraska (2014-17) at right tackle. He was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2016, four-time Brook Berringer Citizenship Team (2014-17), and four-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2014-17).
