The BC Lions and defensive lineman Josh Banks agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Tuesday. The 28-year-old from Cary, North Carolina, made 15 tackles in 16 games for the Lions in 2022.

The Lions signed Banks as a free agent in 2021. After a solid performance in training camp, Banks made the team. In the 2021 season, he made 15 tackles in 14 games. This will be Bank’s third season in British Columbia. In two seasons, he has 30 tackles in 30 games for the Lions.

“It’s very exciting to earn the chance to build on what we started last season,” said Banks. “I’m grateful to this franchise for giving me the opportunity to continue my pro career and to our coaching staff that has done a great job putting us in the position to succeed.”

Collegiately, Banks played four seasons at Wake Forest (2013-16) with 107 tackles, 10.5 sacks, one interception, one touchdown, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 43 games for the Demon Deacons. In his final season, he made 34 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
