Toronto Argonauts and defensive back Royce Metchie agree to a two-year extension

The Toronto Argonauts and defensive back Royce Metchie agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Friday. The 26-year-old from Lagos, Nigeria, made 73 tackles and two interceptions for Toronto in 2022. This will be his second season in Toronto.

Toronto acquired Metchie on February 4th, 2022, from the Calgary Stampeders for linebacker Cameron Judge. Metchie played 31 games in three seasons in Calgary with 91 tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Collegiately, Metchie four seasons at the University of Guelph (2014-17) with 108 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions in 35 games for the Gryphons.
