Evan Barratt celebrates a goal for the Royals in a 5-2 loss to the Thunder

The Reading Royals (25-13-2) were at the Cool Insuring Arena on Friday night. They took on the Adirondack Thunder (15-19-6) for the sixth time of the season. The Royals were 4-1 against the Thunder this year.

Two minutes and forty-four seconds into the first period. Evan Barratt (4) scored to put the Royals up 1-0. Charlie Gerard assisted with Barratt’s goal. Nine minutes and thirty-three seconds later. The Thunder tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Patrick Grasso (19). Shane Harper and Travis Broughman assisted with his goal. The game remained tied 1-1 after one period. The Royals had 14 shots in the first period.

Six minutes and forty-two seconds into the second period. Jeff Taylor (4) put the Thunder up 2-1. Xavier Parent assisted with his goal. 35 seconds later, Ryan Smith (7) made it 3-1 Thunder with assists from Matt Stief and Cory Dennis. The Thunder led 3-1 after two periods. The Royals had 21 shots in the second period.

A minute and forty-six seconds into the third period. Travis Broughman (6) made it 4-1 Thunder. Xavier Parent and Ryan Da Silva assisted with his goal. Nine minutes and twenty-two seconds later. Shawn Weller (6) scored a power play goal. It was now 5-1 Thunder. Matt Stief and Xavier Parent assisted with his goal.

Seven minutes and thirteen seconds later. Devon Paliani (7) scored for Reading. It was now 5-2. Brendan Hoffmann and Colin Felix assisted with his goal. The Royals lost the game by the final score of 5-2. They are now 4-2 against Adirondack this year.
