The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and running back Sean Thomas Erlington agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Monday. The 30-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, had 53 carries for 371 yards, one touchdown, 25 catches for 216 yards, one touchdown, and two kick returns for 33 yards in 18 games for the Ticats in 2022.
This will be Erlington’s sixth season in Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats drafted Erlington in the eighth round (66th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. In five seasons in Hamilton, Erlington has 191 carries for 1,170 yards, six touchdowns, 63 catches for 631 yards, three touchdowns, and 19 kick returns for 406 yards.
Collegiately, Erlington played four seasons at the University of Montreal (2013-16) with 253 carries for 1,405 yards, 16 touchdowns, 51 catches for 543 yards, and five touchdowns in 28 games for the Carabins. In 2014, he helped the Carabins win the 50th Vanier Cup over McMaster 20-19.
