The Saskatchewan Roughriders and defensive lineman Pete Robertson agreed to a one-year contract extension on Saturday. The 30-year-old from Longview, Texas, made 21 tackles, nine sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles for the Roughriders in 2022.
This will be Robertson’s third season in Saskatchewan. In his first season in 2021, Robertson made ten tackles, two special teams tackles, and five sacks in 11 games.
Before joining the Roughriders, Robertson signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent from Texas Tech. In the NFL, Robertson played six games with the Washington Redskins on two stints with four tackles. He also tried out for the Arizona Cardinals.
Robertson opted out of his contract with the Roughriders in 2020 due to the canceled season. He opted back in January 2021.
Collegiately, Robertson played three seasons at Texas Tech (2013-15) with 207 tackles, 19.5 sacks, two interceptions, ten passes defended, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 37 games for the Red Raiders.
In his junior season, Robertson was named All-Big 12 second team and AP All-Big 12 first team after posting monster numbers with 81 tackles, 12 sacks, three passes defended, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.
In Robertson’s senior year, he played 12 games with 66 tackles, five sacks, two passes defended, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. He was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection by the conference coaches and named All-Big 12 first team by the Waco Tribune in 2015.
