Bug Howard scores a touchdown in Week 1 against New Orleans

The Philadelphia Stars re-signed tight end Johnathan “Bug” Howard on Wednesday. The 28-years-old from Rochelle, Georgia, attended training camp for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022. Last season, Howard started eight of ten games for the Stars with 30 catches for 371 yards and four touchdowns.

The Stars drafted Howard in the thirty-fourth round (269th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. Before the Stars, Howard was on the Buffalo Bills practice squad in 2021. He also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collegiately, Howard played 53 games in four seasons (2013-16) at North Carolina with 146 catches for 2,048 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Tar Heels. In 2019, he played for the Atlanta Legends of the AAF, catching 17 passes for 220 yards.
