The B.C. Lions and defensive lineman Woody Baron agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Friday. The 29-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, made seven tackles and one sack in six games for the Lions in 2022. He missed part of the season with an ankle injury. This will be Baron’s second season in British Columbia.

The Lions signed Baron as a free agent on February 14th, 2022. Before joining the Lions, Baron played three seasons with the Montreal Alouettes with 71 tackles, 11 sacks, and one forced fumble in 50 tames. In 2017, Baron signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. However, he was among the final cuts in training camp.

Collegiately, Baron played four seasons at Virginia Tech (2013-16) with 99 tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 52 games for the Hokies.
