The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and defensive lineman Ted Laurent agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Friday. The 35-year-old from Powder Springs, Georgia, had nine tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in 17 games for the Ticats in 2022.

This will be Laurent’s ninth season in Hamilton. In eight seasons, Laurent has 144 tackles, 39 sacks, and six forced fumbles in 124 games. He is a four-time CFL East All-Star (2014-16, 2018), and a CFL All-Star (2018).

Before joining Hamilton, Laurent spent three seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos (now Elks) The Eskimos drafted Laurent in the second-round of the 2011 CFL Supplemental Draft. Edmonton forfeited a second-round pick in the 2012 CFL Draft. Laurent made 66 tackles, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 48 games. Laurent was named a CFL West All-Star in 2012.

Collegiately, Laurent played four seasons at Ole Miss (2007-10) with 57 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 45 games for the Rebels.
