Edmonton Elks releases RB Ante Litre and two other players

The Edmonton Elks released running back Ante Litre, defensive back Jamie Harry, and defensive lineman Malik Tyne on Monday.

Ante Litre, a 28-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, recently signed a contract extension last month with Edmonton. He had 54 carries for 241 yards, one touchdown, 16 catches for 89 yards, and nine tackles in 18 games for the Elks in 2022.

The Calgary Stampeders drafted Litre in the fourth round (28th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. He played four seasons in Calgary (2017-19, 2021) with 94 carries for 351 yards, two touchdowns, 25 catches for 230 yards, and 32 tackles in 55 games for the Stampeders. After Calgary, Litre signed with Edmonton as a free agent on February 14th, 2022.

Collegiately, Litre played four seasons at Simon Frasier University (2013-16) 216 carries for 789 yards, two touchdowns, 72 catches for 516 yards, one touchdown, two kick returns for 18 yards, and 20 tackles in 38 games for the Red Leafs.

In his senior season, Litre had 89 carries for 105 yards, 20 catches for 142 yards, and three tackles in eight games.

Jamie Harry, a 28-year-old from Lachine, Quebec City, also re-signed with the Elks last month. He started the 2022 season with the BC Lions with one tackle before he was released. Then, Harry signed with the Elks and made 18 tackles in nine games in the 2022 season. Harry signed with the Lions as a free agent in 2019. He played two and half seasons for the Lions with nine tackles in 13 games.

Collegiately, Harry played four seasons at the University of Ottawa (2015-18) with 70 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, 12 pass breakups, and 11 interceptions in 16 games for Gee-Gees. In 2017, he was named U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian and OUA First Team All-Star.

Malik Tyne, a 27-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, made five tackles and one sack in eight games for the Elks in 2022. He played two seasons in Edmonton with 11 tackles and one sack in 18 games.

Collegiately, Tyne played five seasons at Towson (2015-19) with 75 tackles, 8.5 sacks, three pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 43 games. In his final season, Tyne made 19 tackles, two sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 12 games.
