Montreal Alouettes re-signs WR Reggie White Jr. and signs LB Avery Williams

The Montreal Alouettes and wide receiver Reggie White Jr. agreed to a one-year contract extension on Monday. In addition, the Alouettes signed former Ottawa Redblacks linebacker Avery Williams.

Reggie White Jr., a 26-year-old from Randallstown, Maryland, made 53 catches for 722 yards, and two touchdowns in 15 games for Montreal in 2022. This will be his third season in Montreal.

Montreal signed White on January 22nd, 2021. In two seasons, White has 71 catches for 899 yards, and four touchdowns in 20 games.

Collegiately, White played four seasons at Monmouth (2015-18) with 249 catches for 3,373 yards, and 31 touchdowns in 45 games for the Hawks. He is a two-time First Team All-Big South, an All-ECAC First Team in 2018, and Second Team All-ECAC selection in 2017.

Avery Williams, a 28-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, was released last week by the Redblacks. He had 94 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles in 18 games for the Redblacks in 2022.

The Redblacks signed Williams as a free agent on January 8th, 2018. He played four seasons in Ottawa with 302 tackles, six sacks, two interceptions, one touchdown, and six forced fumbles in 59 games.

Before joining Ottawa, Williams signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2017 but was released at the end of training camp.

Collegiately, Williams played four seasons at Temple (2013-16) with 154 tackles, three sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and five kick returns for 80 yards in 46 games for the Owls.

In 2016, he was named All-American Athletic Conference Second Team, ECAC First Team All-Star, and All-American Athletic Conference Third Team (Phil Steele) after making 66 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 14 games.
