The Montreal Alouettes signed former Kentucky running back A.J. Rose and released defensive lineman Mike Moore on Monday.
A.J. Rose, a 25-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio, spent time on the practice squad with the Los Angeles Rams. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He spent two seasons on the Vikings practice squad before being released. He played two preseason games for the Vikings with 11 carries for 29 yards and one touchdown.
Collegiately, Rose played four seasons at Kentucky (2017-20) with 341 carries for 1,971 yards, 13 touchdowns, 30 catches for 233 yards, and one touchdown in 44 games, of which 24 were starts for the Wildcats.
In his final season, Rose had 106 carries for 666 yards, two touchdowns, and ten catches for 83 yards. In the 2021 Gator Bowl, he had 12 carries for 148 yards in a Wildcats 23-21 win over North Carolina State.
Mike Moore, a 29-year-old from Hyattsville, Maryland, made 31 tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2022. The Alouettes acquired him in 2021 for OL Tony Washington and RB Martese Jackson.
In 2016, Moore signed with the Ottawa Redblacks as a free agent. He played one season for the Redblacks with ten tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble in eight tackles.
Then, Moore signed with the Edmonton Eskimos/Elks in 2017. He played four seasons in Edmonton with 59 tackles and 15 sacks in 40 games.
Collegiately, Moore played four seasons at Virginia (2012-15) with 113 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 48 games for the Cavaliers.
