The Calgary Stampeders and fullback Charlie Power agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Monday. The 31-year-old from Chamblee, Georgia, had one carry for three yards, and eleven tackles on special teams in 15 games for the Stampeders in 2022.
The Stampeders drafted Power in the fourth round (28th pick) in the 2013 CFL Draft. This will be his eighth year in Calgary. In seven seasons, Power has one carry for three yards, seven catches for 37 yards, 82 tackles, and three forced fumbles in 100 games for the Stampeders. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion (2014, 2018).
Collegiately, Power played four seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2009-12). He started as a linebacker, making 41 tackles, four pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 16 games. Then, he switched to fullback with one carry for two yards, 18 catches for 231 yards, and two touchdowns in eight games for the Huskies.
