The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver and former Calgary Stampeders defensive back Javien Elliott on Tuesday.
Duke Williams, a 29-year-old from Los Angeles, California, made 29 catches for 480 yards, and four touchdowns in eight games for the Roughriders in 2022. He played two seasons in Saskatchewan with 46 catches for 765 yards, and five touchdowns in 12 games.
The Roughriders signed Williams as a free agent in 2021. He played 31 games in two seasons for the Edmonton Eskimos with 134 catches for 2,294 yards and 15 touchdowns. In addition, he played for the Buffalo Bills and had a stint with the Los Angeles Rams.
In 2019, he played four games with 12 catches for 166 yards and one touchdown for the Bills. The following year, he spent the 2020 season on the Bills practice squad. Williams was placed on injury reserved and released in August with an injury settlement.
Collegiately, Williams played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Auburn. At Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, he caught 118 passes for 2,028 yards and two touchdowns. Then, he transferred to Auburn, where he played ten games with 45 receptions for 730 yards and five touchdowns.
Javien Elliott, a 29-year-old from Panama City, Florida, made eight tackles in four games for the Stampeders in 2022. He played two seasons in Calgary with 12 tackles in five games.
Collegiately, Elliott played at Tallahassee Community College and Florida State. In 2015 with the Seminoles, Elliott played ten games with 37 tackles, one sack, one interception, three passes defended, and two forced fumbles.
He went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent three years with the Buccaneers and one with the Panthers in 2019. He played 52 games and started ten of those. He had 77 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defended, and three quarterback hits.
