B.C. Lions and former Alouettes DB Mike Jones agree to a two-year contract

The B.C. Lions signed former Montreal Alouettes defensive back Mike Jones to a two-year contract through the 2024 season on Thursday. The 27-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, made 48 tackles, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Alouettes in 2022.

This will be Jones’s first season in British Columbia. Jones signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2018. After being released, Jones signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played two seasons in Winnipeg with 60 tackles, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles in 21 games.

Collegiately, Jones played four seasons at North Carolina Central (2013-16) with 114 tackles, 11 interceptions, 36 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 38 games for the Eagles. Then, he went to Temple in 2017 as a graduate transfer. He made 44 tackles, one interception, and eight pass breakups in 13 games for the Owls.
