Montreal Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes and defensive back Ciante Evans agreed to a one-year contract through the 2023 season on Friday. The 30-year-old from Forth Worth, Texas, made 26 tackles and one interception in 13 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2022. In addition, the Alouettes signed former Texas A&M wide receiver Quartney Davis.

This will be Evans’s second stint with the Alouettes and eighth season in the CFL. Evans attended the Chicago Bears rookie minicamp in 2014 but was never offered a contract. Then, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in 2015. Evans played four seasons in Calgary with 128 tackles, nine interceptions, and three forced fumbles in 48 games. He is a member of the 2018 Calgary Stampeders Grey Cup championship team.

In 2019, Evans signed with the Montreal Alouettes. He made 29 tackles and three interceptions in 13 games. After the CFL season was canceled in 2020, Evans signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021. He played two seasons in Hamilton with 69 tackles and two interceptions in 26 games.

Collegiately, Evans played four seasons at Nebraska (2010-13) with 142 tackles, five sacks, five interceptions, two touchdowns, and one forced fumble in 48 games for the Cornhuskers. He is a two-time First-Team All-Big 10.

Quartney Davis, a 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, was with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. The Minnesota Vikings signed Davis as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

Collegiately, Davis played three seasons at Texas A&M (2017-19) with 99 catches for 1,201 yards, 11 touchdowns, eight carries for 45 yards, and one punt return for 20 yards in 32 games for the Aggies.
