The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed wide receiver Rasheed Bailey to a one-year contract extension through the 2023 season on Friday. In addition, they signed former University of British Columbia offensive lineman Brandon Sanford.

Rasheed Bailey, a 29-year-old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, made 63 catches for 729 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight carries for 65 yards in 18 games. This will be Bailey’s fourth season in Winnipeg. In three seasons, Bailey has 134 catches for 1,564 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 16 carries for 133 yards in 37 games. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion.

Bailey attended Roxborough High School in Philadelphia. Collegiately, Bailey played at Delaware Valley University (2011-14) with 165 catches for 3,138 yards, 29 touchdowns, and five punt returns for 38 yards in 43 games for the Aggies. He was named Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, and Maxwell Football Club Tri-State Player of the Year in 2014.

Then, Bailey signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2015. From 2015 to 2018, Bailey was on the practice squad for the Eagles twice, Carolina Panthers twice, BC Lions, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and San Diego Chargers.

In 2019, Bailey signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, playing five games with 19 catches for 206 yards, and one carry for ten yards, helping the Blue Bombers win their first Grey Cup title in 29 years. Two years later, Bailey played 14 games in 2021 with 52 catches for 629 yards, five touchdowns, and seven carries for 58 yards in his second season in Winnipeg. He helped the Blue Bombers win their second straight Grey Cup championship.

Brandon Sanford, a 24-year-old from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, signed with the Blue Bombers last year but did not make the team. Collegiately, Sanford played 19 games in six years at UBC (2016-21) at right guard for the Thunderbirds. Sanford attended the 2022 CFL West Regional Combine.
