The Montreal Alouettes re-signed defensive lineman Vincent Desjardins and signed wide receiver Jake Harty to one-year contract extensions through the 2023 season on Tuesday.
Vincent Desjardins, a 27-year-old from Quebec City, Quebec, made one tackle in four games for the Alouettes in 2022. This will be his second season in Montreal and fourth in the CFL. The Calgary Stampeders drafted Desjardins in the second round (17th pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft.
He played two seasons in Calgary with three tackles and one forced fumble in 20 games before signing with Montreal in 2022 as a free agent. Collegiately, Desjardins played four seasons at Laval University (2015-18) with 51 tackles, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 25 games for the Rouge et Or. He is a two-time U Sports First-Team All Canadian, and a Vanier Cup champion in 2016.
Jake Harty, a 32-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, made 11 catches for 66 yards in nine games as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2022. He played two seasons in Saskatchewan with 12 catches for 71 yards in 23 games. This will be Harty’s sixth season in The CFL.
The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Harty in the second round (10th pick) in the 2015 CFL Draft. He played three seasons in Ottawa with 36 catches for 307 yards, and one touchdown in 34 games. He is a member of the 2016 Redblacks Grey Cup championship team.
Collegiately, Harty played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2011-14) with 194 catches for 2,432 yards, 17 touchdowns, 27 carries for 244 yards, three touchdowns, 36 kick returns for 1,021 yards, two touchdowns, and 127 punt returns for 1,174 yards in 40 games for the Dinos. He returned to Calgary as a coach and the Dinos won the Vanier Cup in 2019.
