The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former University of Tennessee defensive back Kenneth George Jr. on Tuesday. In addition, the Ticats signed former North Dakota linebacker Jaxson Turner and former Marshall defensive lineman T.J. Johnson.
Kenneth George Jr, a 25-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, spent time in training camp with the Tennessee Titans. He signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent.
Collegiately, George Jr. played one season at Trinity Valley Community College in 2017 with 27 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games for the Cardinals.
Then, he transferred to Tennessee (2018-21) with 52 tackles, one interception, ten pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 33 games for the Volunteers. In his final season, George Jr. made five tackles in eight games.
Jaxson Turner, a 24-year-old from Esko, Minnesota, went undrafted in 2022. Collegiately, Turner played five seasons at North Dakota (2017-21) with 202 tackles, 22 sacks, one interception, eight pass breakups, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks in 49 games for the Fighting Hawks.
In his final season in 2021, Turner became the all-time sack leader for the North Dakota football team in their Division I era when he made two sacks against Illinois State. That season, he finished with 36 tackles, six sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 11 games.
T.J. Johnson, a 23-year-old from Southfield, Michigan, played for the New Orleans Breakers (USFL) in 2022 with seven tackles. He was released by New Orleans on February 9th.
Collegiately, Johnson played two seasons at Independence Community College (2017-18) with 44 tackles and three sacks in 17 games. Afterward, Johnson transferred to Marshall (2019-21) with 53 tackles, six sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two blocked kicks in 26 games for the Thundering Herd.
