Ottawa Redblacks sign DL Keyshawn James and WR De’Michael Harris

The Ottawa Redblacks signed former Fayetteville State defensive lineman Keyshawn James and former Southern Mississippi wide receiver De’Michael Harris.

Keyshawn James, a 25-year-old from Cayce, South Carolina, attended rookie minicamp for the New England Patriots in 2022. Collegiately, James played four seasons at Fayetteville State (2017-19, 2021) with 228 tackles, 30 sacks, one pass breakup, 11 forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 40 games for the Broncos. He is a two All-CIAA First Teams and was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.

De’Michael Harris, a 24-year-old from Vicksburg, Mississippi, played nine games in two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts with ten catches for 79 yards. He signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

Collegiately, Harris played two seasons at Hinds Community College (2016-17) with 47 catches for 477 yards, 40 carries for 96 yards, one touchdown, 43 kick returns for 1,218 yards, two touchdowns, and five punt returns for 23 yards in 18 games for the Eagles.

Then, Harris transferred to Southern Mississippi (2018-19) with 61 catches for 587 yards, five touchdowns, 122 carries for 621 yards, five touchdowns, 23 kick returns for 594 yards, and one touchdown in 23 games for the Golden Eagles.

Harris was named honorable mention All-Conference USA in 2019 after finishing the season with 113 carries for 541 yards, five touchdowns, catching 34 passes for 346 yards, three touchdowns, ten kick returns for 282 yards, and one touchdown in 12 games.
