The Montreal Alouettes and offensive lineman Nick Callender agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2024 season on Thursday. The 28-year-old from Berkeley, California, played 16 games for the Alouettes in 2022.
This will be Callender’s third season in Montreal. Callender has played 21 games for the Alouettes in two seasons. The Alouettes signed him as a free agent in 2021.
In 2022, Montreal’s offense line helped quarterback Trevor Harris throw for 4,157 yards, which was the second-highest total in the CFL. In addition, backup quarterback Dominique Davis scored 13 rushing touchdowns, which was the second-highest total in the CFL.
Before signing with Montreal, Callender as stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks. In 2019, he played six games for the Salt Lake Stallions (AAF), of which four were starts. Then, Callender played three games for the Houston Roughneck (XFL) in 2020.
Collegiately, Callender played 37 games in five seasons at Colorado State (2012-16), of which 22 were starts at left tackle for the Rams. He was named an honorable mention All-Mountain West by vote of coaches and media in 2016.
