The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former Colgate defensive back Abu Daramy-Swaray on Thursday. The 26-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent but was released during training camp. In addition, he spent time with the Arlington Renegades (XFL).
Before signing with Cincinnati, Daramy-Swaray played for the Potsdam Royals (GFL) in 2022 with 39 tackles, two interceptions, nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two blocked kicks in 12 games.
Collegiately, Daramy-Swaray played four seasons at Colgate 2016-19) with 155 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, 25 pass breakups, two blocked kicks, 70 punt returns for 650 yards, one touchdown, 42 kick returns for 874 yards, five carries for 20 yards, one touchdown, and two catches for 26 yards in 44 games for the Raiders, of which 37 were starts.
In his final season in 2019, Daramy-Swaray had 54 tackles, ten pass breakups, two blocked kicks, one kick return for 21 yards, 15 punt returns for 131 yards, one kick return for 21 yards, two carries for 26 yards, five carries for 20 yards, and one touchdown in 12 games.
In 2019, he was named All-America Third Team (STATS FCS), All-America Fourth Team (Phil Steele), All-Patriot League First Team (Coaches [Defense & Special Teams]), and the Colgate All-Decade Team. In 2018, he was named All-America Second Team (STATS FCS).
In addition to football, Daramy-Swaray competed in Track and Field with six meets placing first in the 100 meters at the Hamilton College Mid-Week Invitational with a personal-best time of 11.22. He also set a personal best time of 10.97 in the 100 meters at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, helped the 4×100 meter team place second at the same meet in a time of 42.70, and placed third with the 4×100 meter team in a time of 44.01 at the Lafayette 8-Way Invitational.
