Charlie Gerard scores an overtime goal to give the Royals a 2-1 win over the Thunder

The Reading Royals (29-18-3) concluded a two-game road trip on Saturday night. They took on the Adirondack Thunder (19-23-8) from the Cool Insuring Arena. Before the game, the Royals signed forward Ted McGenn to a standard player contract (SPC).

After a scoreless first period, the Royals took a 1-0 lead fourteen minutes and twenty-two seconds into the second period. Will MacKinnon (5) scored the goal with an assist from Sam Hu. The Royals led 1-0 after two periods.

A minute and fifty-one seconds into the third period, Brandon Schultz (8) tied the game for the Thunder 1-1. Ryan Smith assisted with his goal. The game remained tied 1-1 heading to overtime.

Two minutes and thirty-one seconds into overtime, Charlie Gerard (24) scored and the Royals defeated the Thunder by the final score of 2-1. Max Newton assisted with his goal. The Royals snapped a two-game losing streak and are now 4-5-1 in their last ten games.

The Royals finished the night with 51 shots, 0/2 on the power play, and Kaden Fulcher made 29 saves. On the other side, the Thunder had 30 shots, 0/5 on the power play, and Jake Theut made 49 saves.

The Royals return to the Santander Arena next Friday to take on the Trois-Rivieres Lions for three straight games. The first game starts at 7 pm and tickets are available on StubHub.
