The Reading Royals signed former University of Guelph forward Ted McGeen to a Standard Player Contract (SPC) on Saturday.
The 25-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, finished up his collegiate career at the University of Guelph with six goals and seven assists (13 points) in 19 games for the Gryphons. In addition, he played nine games for the Iowa Heartlanders (ECHL) with one assist.
In his first three years, McGeen played for numerous teams including the Blenheim Blades (GLJCHL), Chatham Maroons (GOJHL), and the Powell River Kings (BCHL) from 2014-16. As a member of the Chatham Maroons, McGeen scored 41 goals and 40 assists (81 points) in 77 games. In addition, he scored six goals and five assists (11 points) in 20 playoff games.
In 2017, McGeen played for the Wellington Dukes (OJHL) scoring 35 goals and 21 assists (56 points) in 46 games. In addition, he scored eight goals and ten assists (18) in the OJHL playoffs as the Dukes won the championship. Furthermore, McGeen helped the Dukes win the RBC Cup with two goals in six games.
Collegiately, McGeen began at St. Lawrence University (2018-19) with four goals and seven assists (11 points) in 45 games for the Skating Saints. Then, he transferred to the University of Guelph (2020-22) with 13 goals and ten assists (23 points) in 35 games for the Gryphons.
