The Reading Royals signed former Ryerson University forward Zach Shankar and former Stevenson University goalie Ryan Kenny to Amateur tryout contracts (ATO) on Wednesday.

Zach Shankar, a 26-year-old from Prescott, Ontario, wrapped up his collegiate career at Toronto Metro University in 2022 with four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 24 goals for the Bold. In addition, Shankar played three playoff games for the Bold with no stats.

Shankar played four seasons in the OHL for the North Bay Battalion, Niagara IceDogs, and Windsor Spitfires with nine goals and 54 assists (63 points) in 218 games. In addition, Shankar had two goals and two assists (4 points) in 17 playoff games for North Bay and Windsor.

Then, Shankar played four seasons at Ryerson University (2018-21) with six goals and 22 assists (28 points) in 60 games for the Rams.

Ryan Kenny, a 23-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, wrapped up his collegiate career at Stevenson University with a 13-8-1 record, a 2.23 GAA, and a .924 SV% in 22 games for the Mustangs in 2022. In addition, Kenny won the Universiade Silver Medal for Team USA in 2022 after going 3-1, a 2.98 GAA, and a .904 SV% in four games.

Collegiately, Kenny played four seasons at Stevenson University (2019-22) with a 56-23-5 record, a 2.43 GAA, and a .917 SV% in 84 games for the Mustangs.

Kenny is a three-time NCAA III (MAC) First Team All-Conference, NCAA III (UCHC) All-Rookie Team, and NCAA III (MAC) Defensive Player of the Year.
