The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed former South Carolina defensive end Aaron Sterling on Wednesday. The 24-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, attended training camp for the D.C. Defenders (XFL).
Collegiately, Sterling played five seasons at South Carolina (2017-21) with 114 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and three pass breakups in 50 games, of which 31 were starts for the Gamecocks.
In his final season, Sterling made 27 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 13 games. He was named Overcoming Adversity Award in 2021.
