Reading Royals sign former Cougars defenseman Tyler Heidt

The Reading Royals signed defenseman Tyler Heidt to a Standard Player Contract (SPO) on Monday. The 24-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, recently wrapped up his collegiate career at the University of Regina with six goals and 20 assists (26 points) in 28 games for the Cougars. In addition, he played two playoff games.

Heidt played two seasons with the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL) with eight goals and 22 assists (30 points) in 63 games. In addition, he scored two goals and one assists (3 points) in seven games.

He was named to the SJHL All-Rookie Team in 2016 after scoring seven goals and 14 assists (21 points) in 54 games. In addition, he scored one goal in four playoff games.

Collegiately, Heidt began at Merrimack College (2018-20) for three seasons scoring one goal and four assists (5 points) in 71 games for the Warriors.

Then, he transferred to the University of Regina (2021-22) for his last two seasons scoring 11 goals and 29 assists (40 points) in 48 games.
