Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign WR Kahlil Lewis and DB Cortez Davis

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed former Philadelphia Stars wide receiver Kahlil Lewis and former Arizona Cardinals defensive back Cortez Davis on Wednesday.

Kahlil Lewis, a 25-year-old from Miramar, Florida, was released by the Stars in February. He joined the Stars on April 30th but did not play a game.

In 2020, Lewis played for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) with 24 catches for 220 yards, one touchdown, and three kick returns for 71 yards in five games. In addition, Lewis had brief stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Collegiately, Lewis played four seasons at Cincinnati (2015-2018) with 168 catches for 2,116 yards, 21 touchdowns, 12 carries for 151 yards, one touchdown, and 16 kick returns for 297 yards in 48 games for the Bearcats.

He was named Cincinnati’s most valuable receiver in 2016 with 48 catches for 605 yards, and five touchdowns in 12 games. He ended his Bearcats career leading the team in receiving for three straight seasons.

Cortez Davis, a 25-year-old from Decatur, Georgia, played two preseason games for the Arizona Cardinals with one tackle. In addition, he attended training camp for the D.C. Defenders (XFL) in 2023.

Collegiately, Davis began at Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2017 with four tackles in ten games for the Mocs. Then, he played one season at Itawamba Community College (2018) with 59 tackles, one sack, and one interception in nine games for the Indians. Then, Davis transferred to Hawaii (2019-21) with 131 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, 34 pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 36 games for the Rainbow Warriors.

In his final season, Davis had 48 tackles, one interception, 19 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 13 games. He was named All-Mountain West Second Team in 2021. He is a two-time All-Mountain West Second Team and a Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2019.
