Former Philadelphia Stars OL Gunner Vogel signs with D.C. Defenders

Former Philadelphia Stars offensive lineman Gunner Vogel signed with the D.C. Defenders (XFL) on Wednesday. The 24-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, started seven games at left tackle for the Stars in 2022.

The Stars drafted Vogel in the first round (6th pick) in the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. Before joining the Stars, Vogel tried out for the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears in 2021.

Collegiately, Vogel played four seasons at Northwestern (2017-20), starting 18 of 25 games for the Wildcats. In 2020, the Wildcats’ offense put up 16 rushing touchdowns and 162.8 rushing yards per game. The Wildcats’ offense finished the season with 360.7 yards per game.
